What's In a Welcome?
Try This Email Template For Onboarding New Customers

As a business that’s just signed on a new client, your welcome email is hugely important. It should capture the reader’s attention, tell them about the function and value of your business, and ensure that they’re going to open your emails in future!

You might think that accounts receivable correspondence is inherently dry and boring, but it doesn’t have to be. Yes, there is certain information that needs to be conveyed, and a degree of delicacy is crucial when trying to collect money from clients, but you can still deliver messages with humanity and warmth — even when emails are automated.

Compare the two welcome emails below to see the difference:

A Standard Welcome Email

Subject line: Welcome to {BusinessName}! We’re excited to have you on board.

Dear {BillingContactFullName},

We are delighted to welcome you as a new {BusinessName} customer.  Thank you for choosing to work with us.

Your dedicated AR Specialist is {ARSpecialistFullName} and can be contacted via {ARSpecialistEmail} or {ARSpecialistPhone}.

If you have any questions regarding your account, please feel free to reach out.

We’re looking forward to working with you.

Regards,

{BusinessName}

Pretty standard, right? Nothing offensive, but nothing particularly engaging, either.  No suggestion that you really care or you’re going to be building a relationship that will be fruitful for your customer in surprising ways. But by making some subtle changes, you can turn a bland welcome email into a piece of communication that positions your businesses as one that really cares.
